How CatchFrase works
- Pick a language when you first open the app — every object you catch becomes a card in that language.
- Catch an object. Tap "Catch something new" and point your camera at a real object. The app cuts out the object and identifies it.
- Get a card. CatchFrase creates a vocabulary card with the word, its pronunciation, and example sentences. Tap to hear it spoken aloud.
- Build your gallery. Every card you collect is saved on your device for review.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an account? No. CatchFrase works without any sign-up or login. Your collection is stored on your device.
Is the app free? Yes. This version is free and has no in-app purchases or subscriptions.
What happens to the photos I take? A photo is sent securely to an AI service only to identify the object and create your card. It is not stored on our servers. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Why does the app need camera access? The camera is how you catch objects to collect. Without it, the core feature can't work.
The word or translation looks wrong — what do I do? Language content is AI-generated and can occasionally be off. Email us at alex@alexyao.me with the card and we'll look into it.
How do I delete my data? Delete individual cards in the app, or delete the app to remove all on-device data.
